507- Recovery From the Perfect Storm
Douglas Carlsen, D.D.S.
Where are we in 2010? Boomers bent on retiring in a few years now see an uncertain future. What retirement plans really work? Dentists reported gross production reductions in 2009 between 10% and 40%. 2010 has not been better for most.
What can one do for protection and growth?
An informal survey of young and old dentists at a major dental convention Summer 2010 revealed the following hot topics:
Investments: What really worked over the last ten years and what didn't. Yes, a simple method did stay well above the S&P 500.
Where does the prudent dentist go for help?
Savings: How much do I really need to retire?
Debt: How much should I have, how often?
Economy: If I need to work longer, how much longer?
New transition strategies for the next decade: Do associate buy-ins work in a troubling Economy.
Dr. Carlsen will cover the salient points above in a quick 1 hour 45 minutes with 15 minutes for questions.
Upon completion of the course, the dentist will:
Have an increased awareness of how to handle debt investment strategies that had positive gains over the last decade
Know when to buy a home and practice
Have an estimate as to how much he or she will need in total retirement savings
Know of several transition strategies with success and stress rates
